Why you need a Sketchi Railroading End Of Track Safety System
Big progress toward an effective End Of Track Safety System was made with this first configuration of an Along The Track Beam Interruption system. A visible light detector is located in the tracks and a Laser Diode beam is aimed at it. When the beam hits the detector, the electronic circuit passes power to the track. However, when the beam is interrupted by a Car or Engine, the power to the track is turned off, stopping the train from reaching the End Of Track. The system worked for all Trains - traveling at 60 MPH equivalent. Better performance was achieved with a steeper beam path toward a sensor closer to the End Of Track. Testing will continue with other types of beams - IR and Ultrasound. Check out Sketchi Railroading on FB see all the developments toward a safer, but still Sketchi railroad experience.
